The Cribb Road dog off-leash area has been upgraded!
Exciting news for canine owners of the Carindale community!
The much awaited upgrade for the Newbury Place Park dog off-leash area on Cribb Road has now been completed.
Earlier in the year following several community requests, I was pleased to announce that I had secured funding for Council to complete a $45,000 refurbishment of the park to provide an improved space that can be enjoyed by both dogs and owners alike.
Design work begins on the Meadowlands Road Extension
Tens of thousands of vehicles travel on Meadowlands Road every day, it's a critical arterial for the Eastern suburbs.
That’s why Council is funding design work for the Meadowlands Road Corridor Extension in the 2021-2022 Budget.
2021/22 Council Budget - Chandler Ward
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has handed down Council’s $3.6 Billion Budget for 2021/22, unveiling a record $1.2 billion infrastructure program.
The Schrinner Council is getting on with delivering for Brisbane’s residents, keeping the city’s momentum going as it continues to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
As usual, there’s plenty for the city at large, but locally our ward hasn’t missed out.
Update on the Greendale Way Shopping Centre site
As many residents have pointed out, there has been some clearing of vegetation throughout the first week of June at the site on the corner of Greendale Way and Scrub Road in Carindale.

A new plan for Mackenzie’s peacocks
In December 2019, the results of the Mackenzie Peackock Attitudes Survey found that residents were evenly split between doing nothing and taking some kind of action to manage Mackenzie’s peacocks.
Based on the survey, I asked Council officers to develop a Management Plan for the peafowl colony.
Lydia Place Park upgrade

Mansfield Area Traffic Survey (MATS)
The last few years have seen a rise in complaints about traffic and parking issues surrounding both Mansfield State schools.
Many residents are experiencing hazardous road situations and lengthy waits due to the large amounts of traffic coming through Ham Rd and Broadwater Road at school times, with the surrounding streets turning into a parking lot during pickup and drop off hours.
Newnham & Wecker Rd Upgrade design released
Work on the Newnham & Wecker Road project will commence later this year after the Federal Government allocated $12 million to upgrade the intersection to improve its overall operation and safety.
New look for Carindale Library
Two generations of eastern suburbs kids, (including myself) have grown up being able to enjoy the incredible facilities provided by the Carindale Library.
That’s why I was so pleased to see in Council’s latest budget, Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has allocated $1 million to upgrade the facility to improve the services it offers the public.
Wakerley District Sports Park opens
A few weeks ago, I had the honour of officially opening the Wakerley District Sports Park with Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner, Cr Lisa Atwood and Netball Queensland CEO Catherine Clark.
Work has now been completed on the $7.2 million project, with Wynnum Manly District Meals on Wheels successfully moving into the building in May and the first netball game being played on the new courts early in July.
Disc golf takes off in Carindale
Carindale’s new family sport has taken off to a flying start with 150 local residents coming out for Cadogan Street Disc Golf Park’s opening weekend in July.
So far the community’s response has been great, and Council will be adding to the park with additional bubblers and bins to complement the course.
