Grandview Pl Park playground replacement
Some residents may remember that the playground at Grandview Place Park had been fenced off for many months.
Council officers assessed the tree in November last year and found that the Crow’s Ash Tree which the playground sits beneath is becoming unstable and recommended the playground be removed.
Despite the removal, I’m pleased to advise that I have secured funding for the playground to be replaced this financial year.

Construction of new shade sails at Bill McFarlane Park
Over the last year, I have received multiple requests for the playground in Bill McFarlane Park (off Olsen Cres) to be shaded, and I’m happy to say that new shade sails will be installed soon.
This $157,000 investment will see more than 500m2 of area shaded with commercial grade UV blocking fabric, covering both playground nodes.
More shade means cooler play equipment and less exposure to the harsh Queensland sun, making the playground safer for kids to play, learn and grow.

Koala habitat restoration underway in Mansfield
Residents in Mansfield may have recently noticed works being conducted on the embankment of Stan Fraser Oval inside Tillack Park.
The state of this embankment has been an issue for residents for some time now. It was overgrown, dangerous and unsightly especially for all those using the Bulimba Creek Bikeway through the park.
I’m happy to say that after raising the issue with Council and liaising with local residents, the embankment is being given a makeover.
