Bridgnorth St Park Upgrade Party

After 18 months of consultation, planning and construction, the Bridgnorth Street Park upgrade has finally been completed.

The Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner joined me in officially reopening the park as more than 400 people from the community enjoyed festivities.

Local musicians the New Black Band were able to provide some great tunes, whilst free ice creams and a free sausage sizzle were put on by Ruby the Little Red Ice Cream Van and the Carindale Rotary Club respectively.

The kids also had a run in with some paint thanks to face painting by the talented Fantasy Metamorfaces artists.

This isn’t forgetting the great new Australian-themed playground and flying fox that had kids lining up for fun, with the newly installed gym equipment sure to be used by local residents.

The Council Litter team was also able to join us and host fun activities to make kids environmentally conscious of how their actions of picking up litter can help maintain beautiful parks like Bridgnorth Street Park.

I’m pleased to share that 80% of the equipment installed was sourced from Brisbane and South East Queensland, with Brisbane City Council prioritising investing in local jobs.

I want to thank the Council Parks team for their efforts in making this upgrade possible; the Carindale Rotary Club, The New Black Band, Elaine from Fantasy Metamorfaces, Rosanna and Sam from Ruby the Little Red Ice Cream Van and the Council Litter team for their efforts in making the park opening such a success; and, the local community for their patience, ongoing feedback and encouragement throughout the process of Bridgnorth Street Park’s delivery.

The day was certainly one to remember!
