Carindale Recreation Reserve dog off-leash area upgrade
Following many community requests, I am pleased to announce that I have secured funding for Council to complete a $96,000 refurbishment to Carindale Recreation Reserve’s dog off leash area that will provide an improved space that can be enjoyed by both dogs and owners alike.
Carindale Recreation Reserve is one of our premier district parks, with it being the mainstay park for many during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This refurbishment includes the re-turfing of the entire dog park and the relaying of internal footpaths that have become old and cracked.
The refurbishment will also include the installation of double gates which have become standard at Council’s dog parks across the city, enabling owners to enter and exit the park without having to worry about their pets running off.
It will provide an improved space that can be enjoyed by both dogs and owners alike and will provide various benefits to those who already enjoy the park.
Over the course of its use, the turf in the area has been eroded away and the majority of the internal footpaths have become old and cracked.
At present, the park is accessed by a single gate that makes it hard to enter and exit the park without dogs escaping the park.
Double gates have become standard at Council's dog parks across the city, and will ensure that residents don't have to worry about their pets running off ever again!
Whilst this project has not yet started, I'd love to hear your feedback to see what else we may be able to add to the scope of the project.
I am excited for residents who use the dog off-leash area frequently as they will be able to enjoy this space even more following this refurbishment.
