Exciting news for canine owners of the Carindale community!

The much awaited upgrade for the Cribb Road dog off-leash area has now been completed.

Earlier in the year following several community requests, I was pleased to announce that I had secured funding for Council to complete a $45,000 refurbishment of the park to provide an improved space that can be enjoyed by both dogs and owners alike.

Parks and dog enclosures provide great spaces for members of our community to come together and connect, much like the members of the dog-owning community in Carindale do on a daily basis at Cribb Road Park.

I am sure many of you will therefore be thrilled to see the upgrade, with construction having been completed in mid July.

The upgrade includes the refurbishment and relocation of pre-existing structures in the park, as well as the installation of new facilities to account for its popularity and frequent use by the community.

The upgrade includes the refurbishment and relocation of pre-existing structures in the park, as well as the installation of new facilities to account for its popularity and frequent use by the community.

A full list of the upgrades are:

  • The installation of a new 4x4 sheltered seating area and relocation of the existing shelter, allowing for cover in both the small and large dog areas, so owners can bring their doggos down no matter rain, hail, or shine.

  • Dog owners will be able to come to the park, sit back, relax, and chat amongst each other while their fury friends mingle, with the installation of 3 new recycled plastic benches, and the relocation and refurbishment of the 2 pre-existing benches to maximise the use of the space.

  • The internal small dog area will also be expanded, providing more space for the high volume of smaller pups that occupy the park each afternoon.

  • Parts of the weathered and worn fencing that encloses the area will also be refurbished, ensuring a secure area where members of the community can safely let their dogs wander leash-free.

I have also decided to upgrade and refurbish the well-loved agility and training equipment in the coming financial year, as the facilities were installed over 10 years ago now.

I am excited for those users of the off-leash dog area to be able to enjoy this great space even more following these upgrades, which are all a part of Council’s plans to improve the suburbs.
