Stanbrough and London Road intersection upgrade
I’m pleased to announce that the London Road and Stanbrough Road intersection in Belmont is being upgraded as part of the Australian Government’s 2020-21 Black Spot Program.
This upgrade will mainly comprise of a roundabout replacing the existing stop signs on London Road. This will improve safety by providing a low speed environment through the intersection, as well as improve visibility and awareness of vehicle priority.
The upgrade will include:
Installing a roundabout at the intersection
Installing splitter islands on Stanbrough Road and London Road
Installing footpath connections and kerb ramps on the eastern side of Stanbrough Road
installing new LED street lighting
installing new electricity poles and removing one existing pole
trimming one street tree on the north-west corner of Stanbrough Road
road resurfacing, new kerb and channel, line marking, minor landscaping and turfing
Construction starts in mid October 2020 and is expected to be completed by early 2021, weather and construction conditions permitting. Construction will generally take place Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm, however some out-of-hours work may be required.
It’s important to note that at times during construction, London Road on either side of the intersection, will be temporarily closed. Detour signage and traffic control will be in place to assist motorists and pedestrian access will be maintained.
