Free CPR & First Aid Courses
Over the last few months I have received many requests for Council to put on free CPR and First Aid courses for the Chandler Ward community.
I’m pleased to announce that through my ward office, we will be funding a series of free CPR and First Aid courses for local residents.
2024/25 Council Budget: Chandler Overview
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and I know Brisbane residents are feeling the pinch in their household budgets.
That is why the Schrinner Council’s 24/25 budget confirms our commitment to keep Brisbane moving while taking pressure off household rates and rents. The commitments we took to the election have been funded while still delivering a balanced Budget that maintains the cheapest residential rates in southeast Queensland and the most generous pensioner rate remission.
2023/24 Council Budget -Chandler Overview
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has handed down Brisbane City Council’s Budget for 2023/24, where 87 per cent of the Budget spend will be in Brisbane’s suburbs, in line with his Council’s Suburbs First Guarantee.
While this Budget is focused on keeping costs down, it’s important we continue to invest in projects that will keep Brisbane moving and ensure our city remains clean and green. We are also focusing on record investment in building road infrastructure, both for cars and buses.
Multiple parks to receive shade sails in new program
I’m pleased to announce that multiple parks across the ward will be receiving shade sails as part of Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner’s new Sun Safe Suburban Playgrounds program.
The $10 million, three-year effort will ensure that there is shade at every playground in Brisbane, protecting parents, carers, and kids while potentially saving lives as Council looks to reduce sun exposure.
More than 40 playgrounds will be retrofitted across the city with shade covers under the program with three local suppliers contracted to manufacture the sails across the city
Free CPR Courses at the Carindale Library
Over the last few months I have received many requests for Council to put on free CPR and First Aid courses for the community.
I’m pleased to announce that through my ward office, we will be funding a series of free CPR courses later this year.
The first of these is taking place on Wednesday 2nd November from 1pm-4pm in the large meeting rooms at the Carindale Library.
Footpath repairs across Chandler
This month Council has been repairing a large number of footpaths across the Chandler Ward, with numerous repairs taking place in Wakerley, Mansfield, Carindale and Mt Gravatt East.
I thought I may take the time to share some statistics and information on how Council maintains its footpaths.
This financial year, Council has put a record $30 million towards the reconstruction and maintenance of our existing network in order to bring our footpath network back up after the damage done during the February 2022 floods.
Free green waste weekends in September
Great news for residents as the Council announces free green waste disposal at all resource recovery centres over September.
This is a great opportunity for residents especially in Chandler, Gumdale, Burbank, Ransome and Wakerley to clean up in preparation for the storm season.
2022/23 Council Budget -Chandler Overview
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has handed down Council’s $4 Billion Budget for 2022/23, unveiling a record $3.4 billion better suburbs program.
Council is also investing $505 million into rebuilding & recovery programs as well as $1.7 billion into better transport for Brisbane.
As usual, there’s plenty for the city at large, but locally our ward hasn’t missed out.
Manly Rd Greener Suburbs Project Update
I’m pleased to say that the first section of Council’s Greener Suburbs project has been completed on the corner of Manly Rd & Greencamp Rd and boy is it looking good!
In 2021, Council announced two Greener Suburbs projects along Manly Rd, the first at Greencamp Rd and the second at Hargreaves Rd.
The latter project, which is due to take place this year, aims to improve the clean, green feel of our suburbs through tree planting and landscaping.
Manly Rd Greener Suburbs Project
In late 2021, Council announced two Greener Suburbs projects along Manly Rd at its intersections with Greencamp Rd and Hargreaves Rd.
These programs aim to impove the clean, green feel of locations across Brisbane through increased tree planting and landscaping.
It certainly adds to the character of neighboring Wakerley and the eastside as the program continues to move into more suburbs.
My priorities for Chandler Ward
It's a great honour to be appointed the Councillor for Chandler Ward.
Since Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner took office, our administration has wasted no time making several major policy announcements.
