2024/25 Council Budget: Chandler Overview
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and I know Brisbane residents are feeling the pinch in their household budgets.
That is why the Schrinner Council’s 24/25 budget confirms our commitment to keep Brisbane moving while taking pressure off household rates and rents. The commitments we took to the election have been funded while still delivering a balanced Budget that maintains the cheapest residential rates in southeast Queensland and the most generous pensioner rate remission.
2023/24 Council Budget -Chandler Overview
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner has handed down Brisbane City Council’s Budget for 2023/24, where 87 per cent of the Budget spend will be in Brisbane’s suburbs, in line with his Council’s Suburbs First Guarantee.
While this Budget is focused on keeping costs down, it’s important we continue to invest in projects that will keep Brisbane moving and ensure our city remains clean and green. We are also focusing on record investment in building road infrastructure, both for cars and buses.
Go East! Taking the Brisbane Metro from Coorparoo to Capalaba
Council has announced that it has partnered with the Redlands City Council and the State Government to fund the Eastern Metro Study which will investigate providing a Brisbane Metro route from Coorparoo to Capalaba.
This is great news for residents of the eastern suburbs as this would enable tens of thousands to gain access to fast, efficient, zero-emission public transport.
While the original 2026 Eastern Busway was defunded, with the Olympics coming in 2032 we have an opportunity to deliver a Metro line to service the seven Olympic venues in the eastern suburbs, whilst providing public transport access where residents need it the most.
