Footpath repairs across Chandler
This month Council has been repairing a large number of footpaths across the Chandler Ward, with numerous repairs taking place in Wakerley, Mansfield, Carindale and Mt Gravatt East.
I thought I may take the time to share some statistics and information on how Council maintains its footpaths.
This financial year, Council has put a record $30 million towards the reconstruction and maintenance of our existing network in order to bring our footpath network back up after the damage done during the February 2022 floods.
New footpaths connections for Hemmant and Wakerley
Council has just completed major footpath projects in both Hemmant and Wakerley in response to requests from local residents for improved pedestrian infrastructure. But there’s always more to be done.
Belmont Rd, Wynnum Rd & Manly Rd Intersection Upgrade completed
I’m pleased to advise that Council has now delivered congestion busting projects on Belmont Road at this intersection to reduce traffic congestion and enhance road safety.
Prior to the upgrade, traffic congestion was often experienced northbound on Belmont Road approaching the intersection of Wynnum Road and Manly Road, especially during the peak periods.
Meadowlands Rd & Belmont Rd Intersection Upgrade NOW COMPLETE
The Meadowlands Road and Belmont Road intersection was identified as a location within the local road network that required an upgrade to reduce congestion, improve safety and cater for future traffic demands.
Construction began in mid-April 2018 and has now been completed.
Footpath Upgrades for Wynnum Road
The Lord Mayor's 2017/18 Budget has allocated $98,000 for footpath reconstruction along Wynnum Rd, Tingalpa.
This will be completed before the end of the 17/18 financial year.
This follows the $375,000 reconstruction of the footpath along Wynnum Rd, Cannon Hill
Saying goodbye to Brisbane’s ugliest footpath
Most Cannon Hill and Murarrie residents would have a love/hate relationship with the footpath outside the Cannon Hill shops.
As in, they love to hate it. And can you really blame them?
