Kerbside collection resumes - updated dates March 2022
I’m pleased to announce that kerbside collection is resuming after being temporarily paused to assist in the cleanup of the floods.
The flood affected items cleanup collected nearly 50,000 tonnes of waste and was very successful in helping clean up Brisbane.
Under our new schedule, the suburbs skipped over the pause period are having their annual collection rescheduled to the Easter School Holidays.
Bushfire awareness workshops for residents
It’s that time of year when Queensland’s deadly bushfire season rears its head again. This year, Council has partnered with Redlands City Council and the Queensland Fire Emergency Service (QFES) to run a series of bushfire information sessions over the bushfire season.
These programs are run by the QFES and will equip residents with the information they need to protect their homes whilst also maintaining the environmental habitats that they live in.
A new plan for Mackenzie’s peacocks
In December 2019, the results of the Mackenzie Peackock Attitudes Survey found that residents were evenly split between doing nothing and taking some kind of action to manage Mackenzie’s peacocks.
Based on the survey, I asked Council officers to develop a Management Plan for the peafowl colony.
