Bushfire awareness workshops for residents
It’s that time of year when Queensland’s deadly bushfire season rears its head again. This year, Council has partnered with Redlands City Council and the Queensland Fire Emergency Service (QFES) to run a series of bushfire information sessions over the bushfire season.
These programs are run by the QFES and will equip residents with the information they need to protect their homes whilst also maintaining the environmental habitats that they live in.
Chandler is one of the few Council wards across the city that has a large amount of residential houses surrounded by unique bushland. I’d like to encourage residents to attend these events to make sure they know how to protect their family, friends and property ahead of the bushfire season.
These sessions will be especially helpful for residents who may have questions regarding vegetation clearing or may share boundaries with bushland. Properties that are well prepared are far more likely to survive a bushfire.
There are two types of sessions: information evenings and community hubs.
During information nights, QFES will be leading the presentations equipping residents with what they can do to protect their properties.
Community hubs allow for residents to have one on one discussion with Council officers and QFES representatives and are a great opportunity for questions to be asked.
