Design work underway for upgrade of Molle, New Cleveland and Green Camp Rd intersection

One of the most exciting projects of the 2022-23 Council Budget is the preliminary design for the Molle, New Cleveland and Green Camp Rd intersection.

Green Camp Rd and New Cleveland Rd are crucial corridors in Brisbane’s eastern suburbs and this upgrade will look to drastically improve the safety of this dangerous intersection.

I receive plenty of requests, however this would have to be one of the most frequent, with many residents in the eastern suburbs writing to me over the course of my tenure in Council about this dangerous intersection.

This year’s budget included $447,000 towards a detailed design of the future upgrade which will hopefully involve the realignment of the roads, removing the offset intersection that currently exists.

Turning right from Molle Rd poses a dangerous challenge and some residents who I have spoken to often use the petrol station when wanting to turn right from New Cleveland Rd onto Green Camp Rd simply because it is both safer and faster.

Whilst the future upgrade of the intersection hasn’t yet been designed, I imagine that it will involve traffic signals and a realignment of New Cleveland and Molle Rd to meet parallel to each other.

Once the designs are released, I’ll be sure to write out to residents to let them know as I believe this project will have a significant impact on travel times and safety for local residents.

If you believe there’s something specific you’d like to see us improve, please don’t hesitate to contact me or by using the blue box to the right!
