CHANDLER WARD FINAL BOUNDARIES - 2019

CHANDLER WARD FINAL BOUNDARIES - 2019

The Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ) has today finalised their boundary review of Brisbane City Council wards, resulting in significant changes to Chandler Ward.

The ECQ is required under legislation to review the internal boundaries of Council wards before each quadrennial election to ensure each of Brisbane's 26 wards has proportional enrolment levels.

In this case, Chandler Ward's boundaries have changed significantly to accommodate growth in inner city areas, and the changes made to other neighbouring wards.

TRANSFERS OUT OF CHANDLER WARD

Rochedale

The entire suburb of Rochedale has been transferred from Chandler Ward into Macgregor Ward, which is represented by Cr Steven Huang.

Burbank

Part of the suburb of Burbank, south of Mt Cotton Road has been transferred from Chandler Ward into Macgregor Ward, which is represented by Cr Steven Huang.

TRANSFERS INTO CHANDLER WARD

Mt Gravatt East

Part of the suburb of Mt Gravatt East, bounded by Logan Road, Creek Road and Broadwater Road has been transferred into Chandler Ward from Holland Park Ward, which is represented by Cr Krista Adams.

Wakerley

The balance of the suburb of Wakerley has been transferred into Chandler Ward from Doboy Ward, which is represented by Cr Lisa Atwood. It was previously split down Tilley Road.

These changes once again unite the suburb of Wakerley within one Council division, which hundreds of members of the community requested the ECQ to do back in 2015.

THE PREVIOUS CHANDLER WARD BOUNDARIES (2015-2019)

The boundaries won't take effect until March 2020.

In the meantime, I will continue to represent Rochedale and Burbank residents, and look forward to getting to know residents in Mt Gravatt East and reacquainting myself with Wakerley residents, many of whom I have represented previously.
