Murarrie Boundary Review in final stages

You may recall Council proposed boundary changes which if approved, would see the Murarrie suburb boundary shift from Barrack Road to Creek Road, bringing Park Hill Village into the suburb boundaries of Cannon Hill.

A staggering 89% of Park Hill Village residents supported this proposal when it was put to you late last year, whilst only 11% of residents opposed the move.

THE HIGHLIGHTED GREEN AREA OF MURARRIE IS PROPOSED TO BECOME CANNON HILL

I subsequently referred the change to the Queensland Government’s Department of Natural Resources and Mines (DNRM) who are now ready to place the boundary proposal out for public consultation from 4 September 2015.

DNRM will promote the proposed change in the Courier Mail and the South East Advertiser. The Queensland Government will also release a media statement under the Minister’s portfolio which will be able to be viewed on the webpage here: http://statements.qld.gov.au/

All of DNRM’s boundary and place name proposals, including their information and consultation plans, are located here: https://www.dnrm.qld.gov.au/mapping-data/place-names/current-proposals-recent-decisions

The Cannon Hill / Murarrie boundary review will go live here under the job number 15-026 once it is gazetted for advertisement on Friday 4 September 2015. Submissions will close on Friday 6 November 2015.

Please be aware that although I have lent my personal support, as well as Council’s support for this change to take place, ultimately the State Government will make the final decision.

If you support this change, it is incumbent on you and your family to make a submission to the State Government to that effect.

Thank you for your continued interest in the future of Murarrie. (Or perhaps Cannon Hill?) :)
