Hemmant-Lytton Neighbourhood Plan on Schedule

NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN ADOPTION

On Tuesday 28 February 2017, Brisbane City Council adopted amendments to Brisbane City Plan 2014 to include the Hemmant-Lytton Neighbourhood Plan, along with necessary consequential amendments. The amendments are now scheduled to commence on Friday 24 March 2017.

Hemmant-Lytton is a key economic and employment growth area for our city. The aim of the neighbourhood plan is to foster economic growth while protecting the natural environment and the needs of the local community.

BENEFITS OF THE PLAN

  • Supporting vital industry, including marine industry, north of the Cleveland rail line

  • Reinforcing the existing residential and semi-rural lifestyle areas in other parts of the plan area south of the rail line

  • Safeguarding the area’s environment and managing flooding and stormwater through a well-ordered system of non-urban-zoned land and plans for future infrastructure improvements

  • A new park on Aquarium Avenue fronting Bulimba Creek and an upgrade to the existing Paul Conti Park

  • Protecting pre-1946 houses in Hemmant village.

THANK YOU

Council has worked together with the local community to develop the Hemmant-Lytton Neighbourhood Plan, with Council holding a range of engagement events and opportunities to provide input. Thank you to all members of the local community who provided feedback to help guide and shape the future of the area.
